CREED

Creed is definitely an awesome band. They are one of my three very favorite bands.

Creed is comprised of: Scott Stapp, the lead singer; Mark Tremonti, the guitarist, and Scott Phillips, the drummer. The bassist is Brett Hestla, who, however, is not a true member of Creed. He does have his own band, the Virgos. Mark Tremonti and Scott Stapp write all of Creed's songs.

To date, Creed have put out three albums. See below chart:

At this date (December 12, 2002) Creed are just concluding their Weathered World Tour. I had the great privilege of going to see them at their Hershey, PA gig August 24, 2002. I have written a review of the concert. It is located at my journal, and there is a link on the side bar to the Creed Concert review. Click here to see it. Warning: I was pretty psyched, there's some not-so-clean language, and I wrote it at about 2:00 a.m. right after the concert. :) Creed will be playing (at least) 2 more dates, these after Christmas. One of them will be in Chicago on December 29, and the other is in Philadelphia, at the First Union Spectrum, New Year's Eve. Sadly, I doubt I'll be attending the New Year's Eve gig.

I did take pictures of the gig I attended. However, I'm notoriously terrible at getting pictures developed in a timely fashion, and so they aren't available yet. I'll be sure to post my photos just as soon as they are available.

History of my Creed obsession: I first got into Creed when I heard the song "With Arms Wide Open" on the radio. I didn't much like the song at first. But then it grew on me. Then I heard "Higher" and I was hooked. I then got the album Human Clay posthaste. (It is a burned copy; in fact, I burned copies of all 3 Creed CD's.) When Creed put out Weathered, I made sure to get a copy of that posthaste. As soon as I heard the songs on Weathered, I was totally and completely hooked. I got the Creed concert tickets as a 17th birthday present... and then I had to have My Own Prison. Now I've got burned copies of all 3 CDs, and I love Creed a little bit more every time I hear one of their albums.

I don't have a favorite song; they're all so good. I can't even pick a favorite album. I think it's Weathered, but then I listen to My Own Prison and change my mind. Ah well. I do have a list of my 10 favorite songs, in the best order I can make. Here it is:

  1. Stand Here With Me
  2. Torn
  3. My Own Prison
  4. Higher
  5. What If
  6. Don't Stop Dancing
  7. Inside Us All
  8. Weathered
  9. What's This Life For
  10. One
To date, Creed's also won a whole lot of awards. I can't list all of them here, but their latest awards include:
At the VH1 Big in 2002 Awards they received the "Hit Me Baby One More Time" award for consistently putting out great albums. They also won "Album of the Year" at the American Music Awards (and did an awesome performance of "Weathered," might I add!). They are currently up for "Best Alternative Artist" and "Rock Group of the Year" at the Billboard Music Awards.

Wanna learn more about Creed? Below are some links and resources for the Creed fan:

Creed.com -- The Official Website. This is probably one of the best official websites out there. It has news, band bio, awards history, video, audio, and even gig reviews/photos. Definitely check this place out
CreedINK -- The fan club. You can join for free, or you can subscribe to a Premium Service and get some nifty perks.
CreedNow -- CreedNow. Another great page.
creed@yahoogroups.com -- The Creed Fan's Mailing List at Yahoo!Groups.

There are any number of Creed fan sites out there as well. There's a Creed fans message board called the Creed Pit also, however I don't have the URL for that. You can easily do a search on "Creed" in Google and Yahoo! and find about 30 million pages about Creed. :)

Have a nice day! And...don't stop dancing. ;-)
